Welcome to my practice. This is the first step!

Get to know me!

My name is Abby Orchard I am a fully qualified counsellor. I love working with people with a wide range of issues, from depression and anxiety to sexual trauma and PTSD. I am a member of the BACP and I adhere to the ethical frame work, to ensure I am working safely. My aim is to foster a relationship with you, where we can explore the issues that have brought you to seek help and find the answers you need. Talking allows us to think and to formulate ideas. By doing so, we can process trauma that is holding us back and unlock hidden potential.

What is a session like?

Sessions will be weekly and last 1 hour. I will help you to explore what has brought you to see me and use various listening skills and techniques that lead you to deep discoveries about your feelings, your past and your potential. I will be empathic, understanding, supportive, and non-judgemental.

How many sessions will I need?

There is no limit to the number of sessions, it can be a short or long-term therapy. Often, it is open-ended. Meaning unlike CBT where you contract with your therapist for a set number of appointments, with my practice, you can see how it goes. I believe you will know when you are ready to leave therapy and we will work together towards a productive and fulfilling ending for you.
